1 Getting Started

What is Karanta?

Karanta is a calm, story-first library for children ages 3–12, with a parent/carer managing the adult account.

How do I sign up?

Create a parent account with your name and email, then follow the on-screen steps to confirm your email and create your child’s profile.

How do I create a child profile?

From Manage Profiles: add your child’s first name, pick an age band (3–4, 5–7, 8–12), and choose an avatar.

How do I switch profiles?

From the header/profile icon, tap your child’s name to switch. Parents can add more than one child.

2 Accounts & Security

I forgot my password — what do I do?

On the Sign in screen, tap Forgot Password, enter your email, and follow the reset link we send. Create a strong new password.

Why do I sometimes get a 6-digit code (OTP)?

For adult-only actions (like purchases or sensitive changes), we may ask you to enter a one-time code sent to your email/phone. This helps keep your family’s account secure.

Can I change my email or name?

Yes. Go to Parent Settings → Account to update your details.

How do I delete my account?

Please email support@karanta.app from your account email. We’ll confirm and process the deletion per our data policy.

3 Subscriptions, Trials, & Billing

Is there a free trial? What’s included?

Yes. Start with a 7-day free trial that unlocks a selection of stories and books so you can explore before subscribing.

What subscription options are available?

Monthly, Annual (best value), and a Lifetime plan for founding families. Prices may vary by region and currency.

How do I subscribe?

From Parent Dashboard → Choose subscription, pick a plan and complete checkout.

Which payment methods are supported?

Card and local options via our secure payment partners. Availability varies by country.

How do I cancel?

Open Parent Settings → Subscription and select Cancel. You’ll keep access until the end of your current subscription period.

Will my children lose progress if we cancel?

No. Reading history and badges remain on your account. Paid content access pauses until you resubscribe.

4 Reading & Audio

How do I read a book?

Tap a title in My Books to open the reader. Swipe to turn pages. Use the Read-aloud button to play/pause narration.

Can we listen offline?

Yes. Download a book/audio once; it will be available offline.

Can I change narration speed?

Yes. Go to Settings → Audio speed to adjust.

Are there ads?

No. Karanta is designed for calm, mindful use.

5 Quizzes & Activities

Where do I find quizzes?

Go to Activities for general quizzes. Quizzes linked to a story appear once your child finishes that story.

Can my child retake a quiz?

Yes. Retakes are allowed for practice and confidence building.

Do quizzes work offline?

Yes, if they’ve been downloaded previously. Results sync next time you’re online.

6 Rewards: Badges & Accolades

What are badges?

Badges are light, joyful nudges that reward effort, exploration, and kindness. We celebrate effort and curiosity, not just speed or perfect scores.

What does each badge mean?
  • Page Explorer — Finish your first story.
  • Quick Thinker — Complete your first quiz.
  • Imagination Hero — Finish 5 books.
  • Big Brain — Complete 10 quizzes.
  • Story Master — Finish 10 books.
  • Knowledge Collector — Finish 20 books.
  • Wisdom Champion — Finish 50 books.
  • Quiz Hero — Complete 30 quizzes.
  • Bravery Medal — Finish a challenging/longer story.
  • Culture Keeper — Finish a heritage/culture story.
  • Kindness Star — Choose the kind option in a story/quiz prompt or complete a values-themed story.
  • Family Reader — Read a story together and confirm the “Read together?” prompt at the end.
  • Season Explorer — Unlock a seasonal/holiday special.
How are badges earned?
  • Books: unlock when the last page is completed (read-aloud doesn’t have to finish).
  • Quizzes: unlock on completion; a perfect score isn’t required.
  • Specials: unlock for themed collections, longer reads, or seasonal events.
  • Family: co-reading confirmation unlocks Family Reader.

7 Offline Mode, Downloads & Storage

Can my child use Karanta without internet?

Yes. Download stories and quizzes once; they’ll work offline next time.

How do I manage storage?

Go to Settings → Clear downloads to remove items you’re done with.

Is there a storage limit?

Yes. To keep devices healthy, the app caps cached downloads. Old items may be auto-removed if not opened for a while. You can re-download anytime.

8 Languages & Accessibility

Which languages are available?

English at launch, with major Nigerian languages to follow.

  • Use read-aloud for emerging readers.
  • Encourage shared reading; pausing to ask questions builds comprehension.
  • Short sessions beat long marathons for younger children.

9 Privacy & Safety

What data do you collect?

We collect minimal, anonymous usage data (time spent, stories finished) to improve content and experience.

Is there chat or messaging?

No. Karanta keeps experiences child-safe and moderated.

Parental controls

Parents manage profiles, purchases, and can review progress from their dashboard.

10 Troubleshooting

I didn’t receive my password reset email

Check spam/junk. If it’s not there, request a new reset from Forgot Password.

Audio won’t play

Confirm your device volume and silent switch. If offline, make sure the audio was downloaded; reopen the book while online to refresh.

A purchase failed

Retry with a stable connection. If the charge shows but content isn’t unlocked, contact Support with the email used and approximate time of purchase.

The app feels slow

Clear older downloads in Settings and close background apps. Restart your device.
